River Hills Country Club is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in Lake Wylie, South Carolina.
River Hills Golf Course first opened for play in November 1969, at the time, it was named Commodore Yacht and Country Club. The course was designed by Williard Byrd.
In 2006, architect Kris Spence redesigned and rebuilt all the bunkers on the golf course. The driving range was renovated and the teeing area was expanded from 10,000 square feet to 25,000 square feet. In 2012 Kris replaced the Bent Grass Greens with Champion Dwarf Bermuda and reshaped all putting surfaces.
This course is located next to Lake Wylie. This course is not long, but it has many out-of-bounds stakes lining the holes. The fairways are mostly average width, but there are some which are narrow. This is a well-balanced course that has both left and right dogleg fairways.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,545 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 6, a par-5 that plays to 531 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 11, a par-3 that plays to 158 yards from the back tees.
The signature hole is #18, a 372-yard par 4, requiring a second shot across the lake that guards the front of the green.
